Camp Quality genuinely lives up to its mantra of laughter is the best medicine. Last week the laughter and fun was at Lakeside Leisure Centre which closed for a day. Camp Quality representative Michelle Youngberry told News Of The Area, “We are going to have a great day, Port Stephens Council provides the venue for the day exclusively to Camp Quality allowing us to manage infection control as some of the children are on treatment. She is thankful for the support of the local community that has been getting behind the event for the past 11 years. “The fire brigade is bringing Santa to the event and the Raymond Terrace Lions are doing the BBQ, meat has been supplied by Brown Brothers Butchers and the Terrace Meats, breads has been donated and 53 local shops have donated presents for each of the children.” The staff at Lakeside Leisure Centre volunteer their services for the day with ladies from the aqua aerobics classes making crocheted and handicraft gifts for the children as well. “Every year the community and staff get right behind this event,” she said. Port Stephens Councillor Jaimie Abbott told News Of The Area, “I’ve been involved with Camp Quality in the past as MC of some of their events. She believes that this Christmas party is an opportunity for these kids and their families to have some time out, meet Santa and Just have a lot of fun. “It’s a fantastic charity and this annual Christmas party is an opportunity for these children and their families to take some well deserved time out and take their mind off other things,” she said.
