The artworks use a variety of media, inspired by artists’ passion for our native wildlife.

Norm Littlefair is the centre’s Feature Artist whose works will be on display until 24 March.

A Western Australian, Norm is also an ANZAC who served in the army in Malaya during the conflict in the late 50s – 60s.

The Malayan Emergency was a guerrilla war fought between Commonwealth armed forces and the Malayan National Liberation Army (MNLA), the military arm of the Malayan Communist Party, from 1948 to 1960 in Malaya.

Australia’s commitment to the emergency lasted 13 years, between 1950 and 1963, with army, air force and naval units serving.

The Malayan Emergency was the longest continuous military commitment in Australia’s history.

He relocated to Nelson Bay around 2010 and immediately fell in love with the area and plans to live the rest of his days in the bay.

He started painting around 8 years ago and just wants to paint anything and everything he sees.

Norm’s love of travel is depicted in his large art works.

The Art Centre’s two Patchwork groups and sewing away to have their works finished for the opening of the March 2020 Quilt show.

The raffle quilt is being well received and is already generating interest in our community with great ticket sales.

Meryl Miller told News Of The Area, “The exhibition will be opened with a morning tea on Thursday the 26 March and you can attend for the nominal cost of $5.

“All are welcome to join us,” she said.

Our Gallery contains unique handmade items such as jewellery, pottery, knitted goods, cards, bonsai, fusion, patchwork, embroidery, spinning & weaving, woodwork & mosaics all items make interesting gifts.

Admission to the Gallery is free and it is open to the public 10-4 pm daily.
