Toastmasters is the world’s oldest and largest public speaking organisation.

In effect Toastmasters teaches members the art of perfecting their communication skills.

Club President Nick Ledingham told News Of The Area, “Yes, we are about learning how to make a speech or give a presentation, but in doing that we become better communicators, whether it be at work, with friends or with family.

“And we do this in a supportive and friendly atmosphere with a lot of laughter,” he said.

If you are staring down the barrel of making a toast at a wedding, presenting for a company or organisation which you participate in Toastmasters could be the answer to delivering a compelling and confident speech.

You could simply need to hone your existing skills, build eye contact, remove your hands from the lectern, or to reduce the number of um’s and ah’s in your delivery; if this sounds like you checking out Toastmasters could be the beginning of more powerful and compelling presentations.

Port Stephens Communicators is holding a visitors night on Wednesday 3 April.

They invite readers to attend their “Come and See” meeting which is being held at the Crows Nest Room, at Nelson Bay Bowling Club at 6.45 pm.
