Liberal Candidate for Port Stephens, Jaimie Abbott, said the Liberal Government will hire an additional 4600 teachers to join the ranks of the public school system over the next four years; delivering the highest number of teachers in the State’s history. “I’m thrilled that we are continuing to get more world-class teachers to Port Stephens,” Ms Abbott said. “It is so important to invest in our teachers, so they can continue to equip our kids with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the jobs of the future.” In addition to bolstering the teaching staff numbers the liberals are promising that every school in Port Stephens will have its maintenance backlog wiped to zero by July 2020, ensuring students enjoy the best possible learning environments. Education Minister Rob Stokes said “We are making the largest investment into public school infrastructure by any State government in Australian history. “This investment shows our commitment to maintaining existing schools as well as building new ones,” Mr Stokes said.
