Doreen Bradley, a long time campaigner for the improvement of policing services will be pushing for extra police presence and the construction of a new police station. “The hiving off of the Port Stephens LAC and the construction of the new headquarters in Raymond Terrace was the direct result of years of hard work by a small dedicated band of Tilligerry residents,” she said. “At this time, we were promised a full time, permanent force of 2.5 officers and a new station. Port Stephens Council has even set aside the land in RAF Park as the site,” she added. “This guarantee was given by the then Police Minister Mike Gallacher after we ran our own crime forum and had packed community meetings some six of eight years ago.” “We want the local LAC to join with us in pursuing our goals to make this town a better and safer place to live. We need as many residents as possible to attend the meeting to show support.” By Geoff WALKER The current Police Station in Lemon Tree Passage.
