PODIATRY is an important health service as walking without pain and being mobile has a huge impact on the quality of one’s life.

Dorothy Williams (BSc BHSc(PI)) has set up a clinic in Bulahdelah after moving to the area only recently from Sydney.

Dorothy has owned a property in Wootton for over 15 years and often came to the Great Lakes area to holiday but has now made the permanent transition.

Dorothy Williams’ website www.dotpod.com.au explains the services on offer and Myall Coast News Of The Area sat down with Dorothy to talk about who will benefit from this health service.

The majority of Dorothy’s clients are elderly and Dorothy has experience working in Nursing Homes.

She has a passion for the elderly to have healthy feet and stay independent and mobile for as long as possible.

Arthritis can make it harder to reach the feet and keep toe nails in a good condition.

Dorothy also can help with ingrown nails, corns, callus’, cracked heels, bunions and many other conditions that affect the use of the feet.

Dorothy has studied different medical conditions that can have effects on the feet like diabetes.

Patients can be referred to Dorothy Williams by a GP or private consultations can be made.

“Our feet are connected to issues in the rest of our bodies.”

“My aim is keeping people happy on their feet,” said Ms Williams.

Hunter New England Health have expressed that they are pleased to have a local offer this podiatry service rather than sending down a foot doctor from Gloucester or Taree.

Dorothy has a clinic on Monday mornings at the Bulahdelah Dental Practice on Stroud Street and a clinic on Wednesday mornings at the Bulahdelah Hospital.

She is also happy to do home visits throughout the Great Lakes area from Karuah to Nabiac.
