Erin Matheson explained that there is a skills zone and a modified game that is played each week. “That way there are no children just sitting around waiting while another team may be batting.” “There is always a skill they can be practising which involves batting and bowling.” So cricket has become fast and funky. There were some children who had not seen a cricket game played before or did not know how to bat or bowl but they were encouraged by the coaches to learn with them. One child commented, “That was the best sports day ever!” “The kids had a lot of fun and it was great to see so many wanting to play,” Erin and Geoff Matheson told News Of The Area. There was a real buzz at the Bulahdelah Jack Ireland Sporting Grounds as many families gathered to watch their children play and to partake in a BBQ which will operate as a fundraiser. It was another encouraging event for the Bulahdelah Cricket Club to see so many people involved. By Rachel REITSMA
