Everything is handmade by owner Di Beaton, who said she has been sewing for longer than she can remember. “I just like doing things with my hands, I don’t have to have a pattern for anything, I just get an idea in my head and it just gets made,” she said. “My sister does painting, and my others sister does folk art, so I seem to have got the craft side of the family.” Di said the idea to sell her original creations came after making a lamp for family members. “It all started off with family wanting presents,” Di said. “My granddaughter Tillie wanted me to make her a fairy lamp, so I made her one, and then neighbours saw it, and it just kept going and going.” But Pixie Forest isn’t just for little girls, with a range of castles currently in stock, and plans underway to introduce dragons and other magical creatures. Di said she is more than willing to make one of-a-kind items, in any colour, to ensure every young person’s fairy wishes come true. Pixie Forest is a home based business operating from 18 Crawford Street, Bulahdelah, and is open on Tuesdays from 10-2pm. For further information, Di can be contacted on 0423699157.
