PINDIMAR. There’s not much there really, and that’s how those that live and visit there seem to like it.

But what they do have they are passionate about, and apart from the ‘Totum Pole’ there is one thing the community take pride in looking at and enjoying, it’s looking at and sitting under the huge Pine Tree at the boat ramp in South Pindimar.

Overlooking Nelson Bay and the heads, it’s a top spot to stop, think, relax, be inspired and laugh.

Unfortunately though over the years the weather conditions haven’t been the foreshores friend resulting in a mass of erosion around the surrounding base and seats that brings joy to so many.

Erosion has reached a point where quick action is required, and Mid Coast Council have started the process dropping off a number of large rocks to be circulated around the base of the point under the tree and seating area.

Speaking with News Of The Area, Mid Coast Councils Council’s Manager of Parks and Recreation, Mr Andrew Staniland confirmed that the works are being undertaken to protect the pine tree.

Mr Staniland said, “Rock revetment will be placed around the tree and existing retainment wall.”

“These works have been planned for a while, and we’ve been able to begin now we have won rock from another job.”

“The tree has long been an important navigational aid,” he said.
