The family fun day, which will also include live music, raffles and auctions, is a fundraising precursor to the Riverina Redneck Rally in which Darren James and his pit crew will embark on come March. “The races are all about getting together as a community and throwing as much in the hat as we can for those kids battling with some serious illnesses in the Riverina and surrounding areas,” said Mr James. “With the rally finishing in Nelson Bay on the 6th of March this year we really hope we can get as many people from the area as we can out to the Tavern to support us and those kids in the bush.” The day is set to kickoff at noon with the first race scheduled to start at 1pm. One of Port Stephens’ favourite virtuose sons in Mick Jones will keep the crowd moving with a catalogue of classic pub anthems. Plenty of food and refreshments will be available to keep the energy levels up until the last race at 5pm.
