Physio opens in Medowie Sports Centre Medowie, Ferodale, Campvale by News Of The Area - Modern Media - April 24, 2017April 25, 2017 The Paterson family of Medowie Family & Sports Physio. THE newest addition to the stage by stage development of the Medowie Sports Centre has moved in, and is open for business. Medowie Family & Sports Physio is a locally owned and operated by Mike and Kristy Paterson, who aim to provide the Medowie and Port Stephens community with the best, most up to date physiotherapy treatment. Mike told News Of The Area, “We provide physiotherapy to all ages, with our focus on helping you achieve your physical goals in life, whatever they might be.” The new business will provide bulk-billing to Medicare EPC patients, offer concessions for Seniors and school children, HICAPS for instant health fund claiming, and will treat all DVA, WorkCover and third party claims. They also have pending NDIS registration and hope to offer this service in the near future. Mike graduated in 2014 from Griffith University with a double Masters in Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. He is one of a handful of APA titled Sports Physiotherapists in the area and the only Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist locally as well as a credentialed McKenzie Therapist. McKenzie treatment is a technique used predominantly in treating spinal pain. Mike believes in patient education and empowerment, encouraging his patients to understand and assist in their own treatment. He has worked and travelled with sports teams in Australia and New Zealand and is also a keen sportsman, adding endurance running to his former repertoire of rugby union, touch, cricket, squash, mountain biking and multi-sport activities.
