The mission of the Foundation, established by Don Spencer of Playschool fame, is to ensure that all children in Australia have access to a musical education.

This includes disadvantaged children living in remote, isolated areas and indigenous children.

Funds raised pay for musical instruments and the employment of music teachers.

The Concert, entitled Music For Everyone, will be held in the auditorium of the Soldiers’ Point Bowling Club from 2.00pm on Saturday, 14 September.

Jeanette Antrum of the Seaside Singers told News Of The Area, “The concert will feature easy listening music for everyone, so come along and help us support the disadvantaged children.

“Tickets at $20, can be purchased on the day at the door of the auditorium, while children under twelve will be admitted free,” she said.

This concert is a prelude to a Choral Festival to be held over the weekend of 25 to 27 October, when choirs from Japan and the Hunter region will join the SeaSide Singers in workshops and a Public Concert featuring all choirs, under the theme of “Universal Harmony.”

The SeaSide Singers are currently looking to appoint someone to the position of accompanist to the choir for Tuesday night rehearsals, and all choir performances.

If you are interested, please get in touch with Jeanette on 0418266393.

The choir is building on the high profile it earned last year under the direction of our Music Director, Ellery Durrant, a graduate of the Music Department at Newcastle University.

The Seaside Singers welcome new members, particularly men.

Practices are held in the Tomaree Community Centre every Tuesday night from 7.00pm.

No auditions are required- a love of music, particularly singing together, is the only prerequisite.
