Buy My Wardrobe is a pop-up event selling second hand clothes held at the Myall River Festival in Tea Gardens run by a local fundraising group the Pearls of Port Stephens.
This year the group set a goal of raising $4000 for drought affected farmers in our region, specifically in mind was to channel some funds to help the Doing It For Our Farmers Pop Up Pantry initiative in Murrurundi.
Sharyn Buck from the CWA welcomed representative members from the Pearls to the meeting giving Kathy Gillespie Mother of Pearl (MOP) an opportunity to reacquaint CWA members with the fundraising group and reason behind this year’s donation.
Kathy handed the cheque for $4000 to Helen Gardiner a CWA representative for the Upper Hunter region.
Helen said,” Water is now at a critical level in the area and this money will go a long way to help farmers from Scone through Murrurundi and as far as Quirindi so we are most grateful to the Pearls for this generous donation.”
The drought has had dire consequences for farming communities continuing to struggle to provide fodder for animals and keep water and food on the table.
“The real solution is rain and follow up rain until then we will continue to give support where we can” Helen said.
