Last week, the ‘Pearls’, the women behind the ‘Buy My Wardrobe’ initiative, delivered the fruits of their labours to three worthy causes.

Harry’s House in Stockton gratefully received a cheque for over $2,000 from the Pearls.

The Harry’s House organisation provides a home away from home for families who have a child living with cancer and families grieving the loss of their child to cancer within the past 2 years.

“Knowing that money raised benefited many children that are unwell and their families was a heart-warming and humbling experience,” founder of the ‘Pearls’ Kathy Gillespie told News Of The Area.

But there were more donations to be made.

The local pre-school in Hawks Nest also received a cheque for $500.

Students too at Tea Gardens Primary School have benefited from another donation of $500.

The Pearls would also like to acknowledge the community who helped make their ‘Buy My Wardrobe’ campaign such a success.

“A big thank you to Emily and Ben Hanson from the Tea Gardens Pub for allowing us to us the Dolphin Room for our meetings that are held on the first Saturday of the month free of charge, we appreciate this so much,” Maria Harder said.

The Dolphin room was also turned into an emporium of clothes, shoes and accessories on the day of the River Festival.

The Pearls are now looking to their next community campaign.

Maria Harder said, “For Christmas this year we will be liaising with David Coyle from the Tea Gardens Police, to prepare and deliver Christmas food hampers to the elderly in our area.”
