Dominic Teakle, Chief Executive Officer of PCYC was in attendance at the centre in Nelson Bay for the celebration of its 40th anniversary. as were members of the community who serve on the committee as volunteers as well as members of the Rotary Club of Raymond Terrace.

Rotary was a part of the founding force behind the launch of PCYC in 1937.

Dominic Teakle told News Of The Area, “Most of our programs are funded by donations and grants, we only get 10% government funding.”

PCYC Life Governor Laurie Toscano told News Of The Area, “I have been involved for 40 years and started teaching gymnastics and I am still involved in the committee.

“We try and get the local kids on the right track and provide a safe place to go,” he said.

Over the years the PCYC has delivered fun activities like Blue Light Discos.

At PCYC Nelson Bay there are plenty of sports activities on the program and membership is affordable.

PCYC is still delivering programs which help get youth off the streets and engaged in positive activities.
