MEDOWIE was treated to a party, and a star studded morning, when The Children’s Cancer Institute’s ‘Build for a Cure’ house was officially revealed over the weekend, by ambassador Scotty Cam from ‘The Block’ fame.

The house build began on Monday 27 August and targeted to finish in just 21 days.

Every inch of the house has been generously donated from a suite of corporate partners and community groups – including the land, all materials, labour and furnishings.

The house was built in The Bower Estate in Medowie, with the Newcastle and Port Stephens communities rallying together to take on this monumental task.

For reveal day, celebrity Scotty Cam was joined by McCloy Group ambassador Mitchell Pearce, as well as a host of special guests including past contestants of The Block Maxine and Karstan, children’s cancer survivors and their families, medical researchers, architects, builders and interior designers.

The house will be auctioned off on site on 21 October, with hopes of raising over $650,000 for charity.

Jeff McCloy, Chairman of the McCloy Group, told News Of The Area, “We believe it is important to give back to the community that supports us, and working with the Children’s Cancer Institute to bring childhood cancer to zero is imperative.”

“Together we’re building a home in the Medowie community, to support an amazing outcome to cure childhood cancer.”

Newcastle Knights player and McCloy Group ambassador, Mitchell Pearce, told News Of The Area, “Teaming up with McCloy Group for the Build For A Cure project is an opportunity I’m extremely keen to be part of and what a cause to support.”

“The project has shown enormous success in the past and it continues to do amazing work to achieve zero childhood cancer.”
