The holding of P and C meetings at schools after school hours was also given the go ahead to resume from November 12, and students are now able to attend annual end of year excursions to Canberra.

NSW Education Secretary Mark Scott congratulated schools and their communities for their on-going efforts, and reinforced that students, staff and people entering schools for end of year events must remain vigilant and practise good hand hygiene.

“Carefully allowing additional activities to take place at schools will give our school communities a welcome return to some normality in what has been a long and challenging year for our students, educators, parents and carers,” Mr Scott said.

“While parents and carers will be able to attend important end of year events in person, including graduations, they will still need to continue to maintain 1.5 metres of physical distance from one another and follow all onsite health measures.

“End of year events, school formals and graduations can be held from 12 November provided they follow department guidelines and NSW Health requirements for COVID-safe events.”

Principal-endorsed end of year school events such as visits to a local park or recreational venue were also given the green light, as well as speech nights, school performances, productions, plays and concerts.
