Doing their bit in a big way last weekend, were the residents of Palm Lake Resort in Tea Gardens.
Tables were laden with delicious delights as the community came together for a morning of entertainment and of course, great food and cups of tea.
“Last year we raised over $2,430 and this year we’re hoping to raise more,” President of the Social Committee, Susan Farrar told News Of The Area.
“We have beautiful raffle prizes, and the most gorgeous spread of luscious goodies.”
There was also performances from the Resort’s Choir and a number of other musical numbers.
“All of us are touched by cancer, it’s an insidious disease.”
Last year the Australia wide campaign raised an amazing $11.9 million.
The Cancer Council uses that money for research but also to support people and families living with cancer and to prevent cancer.
For example, $25 covers the cost of protecting 15 children from potentially harmful exposure through the SunSmart School program.
$155 provides transport and a night’s stay at a Cancer Council Lodge for people who need to travel for vital cancer treatment.
All the members of the Palm Lake Social Committee ensured the Big Morning Tea in the Promenade Room was a huge success and are sure to be back to do it all again next year.
