Subtitled ‘A Trivial Comedy for Serious People’, the play is set in late nineteenth century Victorian England and is a farcical look at the conventions and institutions of the time.

Known for his trenchant and sometimes cutting wit, Wilde creates a comedic story of love, deception and greed without making any moral observations.

With a cast of nine and presented over three acts, Director Rex Madigan has worked through lockdowns and ongoing uncertainty with his dedicated team and is delighted with the outcome.

“As the director I am very pleased with the progress of this production.

“The cast have polished their parts and I know the audience are going to thoroughly enjoy this fast-moving comedy. Oscar Wilde’s wit is at the forefront in having a go at British society and ‘Earnest’ is one of the funniest plays I have seen,” he said.

The production will run from Friday 15 October to Sunday 24 October, with ten performances including matinee shows at 2pm on the weekends.

Tickets are available online at https://www.jettytheatre.com/the-importance-of-being-earnest/ or by calling JMT on 02 6648 4930 or visiting the box office Tuesday through to Friday 12 noon to 4pm.
