Orienteering is back in Coffs Coffs Coast Sport Property/Sports/Opinion - popup ad Sport by News Of The Area - Modern Media - April 13, 2023 Four orienteering events will be held in Coffs Harbour in coming months. THE Bush n Beach Orienteering Club is back in action for 2023 with four events being launched in Coffs Harbour. Orienteering is a fun and challenging outdoor sport that exercises both the mind and body. The aim is to navigate between control points marked on a special orienteering map while deciding the best route to complete the course in the quickest time. President and event organiser Keelan Birch spoke about the four upcoming orienteering events for Coffs Harbour. “Our first event at Diggers Beach on Sunday 29 April is a fantastic event for families, runners and keen orienteers. “We are exploring the headlands, reserves and beaches in a 60 minutes score course. “That means you can choose the route to suit your ability. “Flags will be placed which adds to the excitement of navigation. “We then head to the Jetty Foreshores on Sunday 13 May where Bruce Meder is setting a fun course around the parks and reserves. “Great excuse to drop down to the Jetty! “Our third event on Sunday 3 June takes in the parks and reserves around Tree Fern Creek in west Coffs Harbour with an optional easy family friendly course. “Our final event celebrates the winter solstice on Thursday 22 June with some night orienteering at Brelsford Park. “You will need your head torch for this one!” All four events are designed for families and beginners.
