Dear Denise,

How do I style my rented Home?
KW, Karuah

It can seem difficult to decorate a home that you are renting, but there are some style tips you can employ.

Walls: If you are prepared to pay for the materials, do the work and are painting a neutral colour, maybe your landlord will agree to you giving the rooms a facelift with paint.

Use large wall art pieces instead of a lot of small pieces, eliminating the need for lots of holes in the walls.

Furniture: Use stylish pieces, either buy Ikea style furniture that you can assemble yourself or why not go to op shops for a shabby chic or industrial look. Either way, furniture makes a huge difference to a home’s overall appearance.

Floors: If you hate the carpet buy large decorative rugs. Ensure you purchase good quality rugs though avoiding trip hazards and ensuring endurance for wear and tear.

Lighting: It can impact a room enormously. Purchase beautiful light shades. Have a statement piece. Dress up a room quickly with gorgeous light fittings & lamps.

Gardens: Transform them with statement plants in pots, garden art & outdoor furniture you can take with you when you leave.

Hope that helps.

Denise.
