OPINION: Poor state of the Coffs Harbour Jetty Recreational Area Opinion by News Of The Area - Modern Media - October 27, 2021 DEAR News Of The Area, I WOULD like to comment on the poor state of the cleanliness of the fixed seating area within the Jetty Recreational Area. Each Sunday, many locals congregate at the Jetty to catch up and share their week’s activities. We now find that to access any of the fixed seating areas, we must first clean and remove the rubbish left behind by persons unknown during the previous evening. Rubbish will consist of half eaten pizza, remains of ice creams, soft drinks and any fast food purchased from local venders. In addition the seating as well as the table tops must be washed down to remove the debris. We believe that the cleaning of this area should be undertaken by Coffs Harbour City Council (CHCC) employees, just like the daily cleaning of the public toilets in the Jetty vicinity. Being ratepayers, we would like the CHCC to take action to ensure that locals and tourists can enjoy their Sunday markets and gatherings to be enjoyed by all without having to take cleaning material to wash down prior to taking occupancy of the fixed seating areas. Regards, Lyndall WEATHERBY, Coffs Harbour.
