OPINION: Labor Energy Disaster Opinion by News Of The Area - Modern Media - September 27, 2022 DEAR News Of The Area, OVER the past 40 to 50 years the dire predictions made by the man made climate scientists and zealots have not come to fruition. Not one, zero, zip. If only one of these predictions had occurred we would not be here to talk about it today. So against this backdrop, the most dangerous man in Australia today, the Minister for Climate Change and Energy, is leading this country down a path of absolute ruin and disaster by pushing green energy policies to fix a problem that does not exist. Many European countries have already woken up to this disastrous path and are bringing back nuclear, coal and gas sources of energy to save their countries from energy disaster and ruin. The first thing we learn from history is that we don’t learn from history. Does Australia have to collapse before the government realises its green energy policies are disastrous? Man made climate change is the redistribution of wealth by stealth and remains the greatest ever con perpetrated on mankind. Regards, Ken MITCHELL, Coffs Harbour.
I agree. This rush to renewables is insane. We need to maintain good reserves of base-load power via coal whilst we take baby steps towards renewables. ……. and we need to closely consider Nuclear. Reply
The point about renewables is that they are our lowest cost source of energy from the viewpoint of the Australian Energy Market Operator. Nuclear is the most expensive internationally. In Australia it would be more expensive. The federal regulatory system we have in Australia has made coal seam gam virtually impossible outside QLD. Setting up a regulatory framework for nuclear would take 2 decades before development could start. As a final point do you remember when nuclear was proposed (again) 2 decades ago, The political response was to ask before a general election ” In what electorates will you put the reactors?”. No one will invest in nuclear, no one wants it in their electorate and it is not competetive. Time to move on. Reply
