OPINION: Greens support Nurses and Midwives

DEAR News Of The Area,

COFFS Harbour Greens attended the Nurses and Midwives rally in Coffs Harbour last week to support our frontline healthcare workers.

We joined the strike action because we’re concerned that the NSW government is failing to keep our community safe by ignoring Nurses and Midwives requests for safe patient care.

We believe this government’s response to be extremely insensitive especially in the middle of a pandemic.

If Dominic Perrottet and his government can’t work with nurses and midwives now to stop worker migration out of the sector when can they.

We believe our nurses and our midwives deserve sustainable hospital staffing solutions and Covid safe conditions in our hospitals.

Frontline healthcare workers have been crying out for better conditions, safe staff to patient ratios and fair pay for years.

Nurses and midwives have worked around the clock to keep us safe throughout this pandemic and they deserve better than empty thanks from the Liberal-National Government.

Kind regards,
Natalie STEVENS,
Greens Convener.
