The six year old Wirreanda Public School student chopped her locks after fundraising for the last few weeks to raise much needed funds for ‘Variety – the Children’s Charity.

Olivia was inspired to begin this journey to donate her hair after a classmate in preschool donated his hair after the loss of his mum.

Olivia set her original goal at $750, but quickly smashed that goal and came to a total donation of $2396.93 as it stood on the day of the big chop.

Variety have stated that wigs can cost families up to $6,000 and Olivia’s hair is sure to become part of a very beautiful wig for a special young person.

As the last plait was cut, Olivia shouted to the crowd of onlookers “I’m a new Liv” and how true is that statement, not only for her, but for the recipient of her beautiful hair.

They too will be a whole new person, hopefully feeling much more confident and happy, and all because of one little girl.

Olivia’s mother, Kelly Berger, told News Of The Area, “As a mother she has made me so proud and gives me a sense that I must be doing something right.”

“Fundraising these past weeks has made me realise how wonderful the Medowie community is, and i would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported Olivia in her mission to help ‘every girl feel pretty’ like she wanted.”
