Since the launch of the ‘Buy Regional’ website in 2019, there have been over 500,000 online shoppers purchasing a range of regional products, from farm-fresh meat, hand-distilled spirits and unique fashion and homeware design pieces.

Stroud Valley Harvest are one of the only Myall Coast businesses who have registered, however they have found great success from the program.

Karen Hutchinson, MidCoast Councillor and member of Stroud Valley Harvest proudly supports ‘Buy Regional’.

“It’s a fabulous idea and to be honest we just registered to see how it worked.

“Through this scheme, we supplied gift packs to a business that was doing a promotion for six months.

“It certainly did get our name out there,” Cr Hutchinson said.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said online gift shopping is an excellent way to support local businesses during the lockdown.

“‘Buy Regional’ continues to go from strength to strength and provides critical economic stimulus to hundreds of businesses who have battled through drought, bushfires, floods and the continuing impacts of COVID-19.

“Many rural towns are seeing good harvests after much needed rains across the state over the last year, but in the face of the pandemic they still need your support, and there’s no better way to help regional businesses than by giving them your business,” Mr Barilaro said.

With less than twenty businesses in the MidCoast region registered, the NSW Government urges anyone to jump onto the website to try it out.
