NSW/ACT Laser Master Championships Regatta at Port Stephens Myall Coast Sport Port Stephens Sport Sport by News Of The Area - Modern Media - February 8, 2022 The laser fleet on Saturday afternoon. Photo: Marian Sampson. PORT Stephens hosted what has been described as a great weekend on the water with the NSW/ACT Laser Masters Championship held. There were almost 130 entrants for the weekend which created a visual spectacle on the Bay. Spectators on Saturday would have also seen the fleet of Port Stephens Yacht Club yachts racing, with the two fleets managing to avoid each other. There were a number of Bay Sailing Centre and Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club members racing in the event. Congratulations went to Rhino – awarded the ‘Blue Swimmer’ crab at the Prizegiving Ceremony! The strong SSE winds delivered some challenges for the on water race management team, which kept the fleet racing until almost 6.30pm on Saturday. Next year, the Laser Master event will return to the Bay Sailing Centre as a National Championship following this year’s State Championship. The next ‘Off the Beach’ regatta will be a part of Sail Port Stephens, which is held annually in April. By Marian SAMPSON
