North Coast Bulldogs finish on top of the ladder

The North Coast Bulldogs go on the attack.

THE North Coast Bulldogs under 18s representative side have capped off a magnificent home and away season, finishing on top of the ladder in their Laurie Daley Cup competition.

The Bulldogs finished as undefeated minor premiers with four wins and a draw in their home and away season.

The Bulldogs claimed the minor premiership with a 36-14 victory against ladder leaders Central Coast Roosters in Wauchope.

The Bulldogs under 18s now play the Macarthur Wests Tigers in the semi-finals of the Laurie Daley Cup.

Bulldogs under 18s coach Matt Freebairn explained why his team were able to finish as minor premiers.

“We have the ability to turn up on the big occasions, and in a five-game competition you have to turn up every week and that’s what they’ve done,” he said.

“Just being positive on and off the field and the way they play for each other, there is no negativity in the whole Bulldogs system and it’s just a positive environment.

“They are a special group of kids, everybody gets to be themselves and we are more interested in the person rather than the player.”

The North Coast Bulldogs sides feature some of the best Group 2 Junior Rugby League players, as they take part in NSW’s regional representative competitions.

The North Coast Bulldogs under 16s representative side just missed out on a semi-final berth in the Andrew Johns Cup, finishing one point behind fourth spot after a 16-16 draw with the Central Coast Roosters.
