PORT Stephens Council met this week at their regular meeting and announced their long-awaited decision on how a loan of $6million is going to be spent across Port Stephens.

 

In total, nine projects will receive a generous cash flow injection.

One of the largest approved projects will see a much needed road repair budget of  $1 million for the Tilligerry Peninsula.

On the list set for repairs under this funding allocation is Russell Street at Lemon Tree Passage, Lloyd George Grove at Tanilba Bay with a Beatty Boulevarde to President Wilson walk rehabilitation, a turn head at Purcell Avenue in Lemon Tree Passage, Tanilba House to Tanilba Avenue rehabilitation at Admiralty Avenue in Lemon Tree Passage, a turn head at The Parkway North in Mallabula, and lane sealing at Wemyss Way in Tanilba Bay.

Other items on the approved list within the $6 million of funding  include, Yacaaba Street extension to join the foreshore at a cost of $1.5 million, Shoal Bay drainage works to the tune of $500,000, $200,000 of funding for a Skate Park at Anna Bay, a croquet and petanque play are at Boomerang Field in Raymond Terrace, Karuah Sports Amenities totalling $500,000 for a much needed new clubhouse at Karuah Rugby League homeground,  repairs to the road worth $1.5 million at East Seaham and Swan Bay road sealing at $500,000.

Deputy Mayor Cr Chris Doohan told News Of The Area, “Isn’t it fantastic that Port Stephens Council has the capacity to fund an extra $6 million of much needed infrastructure to support our community, doing so at an extremely low interest rate to make it happen.”

“I am also proud to have already secured 3.8 million of funding for Medowie, to build the Medowie Sports Complex, which is giving us a community facility, bowling greens and gated playground, in stage one alone.”
