Nigel Tweddle’s mullet chop for Motor Neurone Disease

Nigel’s Fundraiser: mullet-it-go-for-mnd.

NIGEL Tweddle’s prize mullet is getting the chop on Saturday 2 April at 1pm in a fundraising barbering session in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Known through his arborist work around the Coffs Coast as the big guy in pink with a mullet, Tweddle’sTrees founder Nige has committed to the date having put it off for a couple of years.

“I’ve done a couple of charity cuts before after my first two kids were born, both times I shaved off my beard,” Nige told News Of The Area.

“I chickened out a few times over my mullet but then after my little lad was born, I thought I’d do the shave for him.”

The big draw for Nige’s friends is that one of them will win the gig of whipping the mullet off.

“I’m selling raffle tickets with the first prize of getting to shave my mullet off.

“My friends are buying up big to increase their chances of winning the job…they get to shave it however they like.
“And whatever they do I’m leaving it like that for a week.

“I did that with my beard shaving charity events and it’s a great way to raise money.”

On hand will be Nige’s regular barber, Resh from fResh Cuts in Toormina, who will provide the tools and any expertise requested by the winning ‘barber’.

“I don’t know anyone with MND but I do know it’s a devastating disease.

“I want the money I raise to go to both research and for more carers for those with MND,” he said.

Sponsors are coming in with gift vouchers from Upstairs Barber Co in Sawtell, Mid North Coast Babysitting, Coffs Mobile Welding, Hopwood Homes, Tweddle’s Trees and Gallows Brewing.

“We’re doing the shave at Toormina Hotel and they are being very generous with raffle prizes and will promote the event two weeks out.”
