Mitchell Pearce’s arrival in the Hunter has footy fans excited. Pearce is one of a host of new players that will be fielded by the Knights who are coached by Nathan Brown. He will don the number 7 jersey made famous by Newcastle Knight Andrew Johns. After three consecutive years of taking out the NRL’s wooden spoon the new look Knights are ready to climb their way up the leagues ladder. The Knights trained for three days at the Bay’s Tomaree Sports Complex and welcomed members of the public to an open training session on Friday morning. Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer told News Of The Area, “It is great to welcome the Knights to Port Stephens, as we did with the Jets a couple of weeks ago. “It is wonderful to see the best teams using our fantastic facilities at Tomaree Sports Complex. Port Stephens Council has a close connection with the Knights as Stephens Crowe Council’s Communications Section Manager is a former Knights premiership player. The Knights team spent some time giving back to the community making some very special memories for Dylan Fry and Jamie Hall who performed as water boys for the team throughout the training sessions. Dylan and Jamie were participating in an Endeavour Day Program.
