Kindler Way is currently underdoing repairs while The Bronze carpark is undergoing an expansion. This will include 50 extra car spaces to ease congestion for short and long-term parking. The new renovations are taking place in the parking facility closest to the exit, directly across from the Mercure Hotel. A new dedicated AirBus drops off and picks up passengers to and from the Bronze car park. The free of charge shuttle delivers passengers directly to the airport terminal entrance and is only available to passengers in the Bronze car park. This includes reducing the speed limit on Nelson Bay Road near the airport traffic lights from 80km/h to 60. Traffic controls will be in place to ensure visitors in rental cars can easily access the drop off and pick up zone. A spokesperson for Newcastle Airport told News Of The Area, “To be on the safe side, travellers are urged to factor in additional travel time to the airport.” “Impact to traffic has been none to very minimal as the works are happening off the main road, Williamtown Drive,” they said.
