Nelson Bay Swim Club member takes out Bronze at Senior State Age Championships

EBONY Nix, a member of the Nelson Bay Swim Club, has swam at the Senior State Age Championships, taking out two bronze medals in the 14-year age group.

Ebony came third in both the 50 meter and 100 meter butterfly races and will go through to the National Championships, to be held in Adelaide later this year.

However this butterfly specialist also proved that she is an all rounder, taking out fifth place in both the backstroke and freestyle 50 metre races.

She also came sixth in the 100 metre backstroke and seventh in the 200 metre butterfly race.

Ebony Nix will be joined at Nationals by fellow Nelson Bay Swim Club members Eve Crow and Taylor Corry in the para category.

Pamela Nix told News Of The Area, “The Nationals are on from 10-20 April and I am pretty confident that it will be going ahead.

“They can’t keep cancelling events.

“Ebony will now be putting in some hard yards before the Nationals.

“She is pretty driven, she trains five to six times per week with more training planned between now and April,” she said.
