Ultimate is regarded as the fastest growing team sport in the world.

The game is full of quick passes, AFL-style marks and spectacular diving catches.

The frisbee moves from one end of the field to the other using netball-style passes and a catch in the end zone scores points for the teams.

NSW Ultimate is hosting the 2017 Mixed Championship at Nelson Bay 20-22 October.

Hannah Monty, Development Officer of NSW Ultimate told News Of The Area, “There are around 460 players coming to the tournament at Nelson Bay in October.”

She believes that the fast growth of the sport is due to the friendly spirit of the game, and how much fun it is to play and watch.

The game is popular at university level and the peak body for the sport is working on juniors, youth and school programs.

“Spectators will see frisbees thrown in ways that they have never seen before during the tournament, with exciting grabs and overhead passes,” she said.

There are no referees in the sport with the teams self scoring, and giving each other a fairness score at the end of the game.

The competition will pit mixed-gender clubs from across Australia against each other.

Games will be played each day at Tomaree Sports Complex, and entry is free for spectators.
