ON Tuesday 14 February the Nelson Bay Lady golfers held their annual “Gala Day”, which is an open event that has been running for over 20 years. This year saw 212 players taking part with 96 visitors from 15 clubs from as far as Bayview (Sydney) to Scone. In order to accommodate the player numbers, all three courses were utilised. The ladies played in teams of four with the best two scores to count resulting in some excellent scores. While still anticipating the completion of the new clubhouse, lunch was served at the delightful venue of Broughtons at the Bay, overlooking the Marina. The food was prepared by the Golf Club caterers, Tanya and Will Semmens. Being Valentine’s Day, table decorations of hearts and flowers followed that theme with several teams choosing to wear red. This year’s prizes were generously provided by principal sponsors Lyn Hollier and late husband Bob supplemented by the Lady Members.
