They played at the Northern NSW U18s State Carnival on the weekend.

Whilst other regions are struggling to field teams NB hockey is able to send away representative teams in all age groups most years.

The club is rightly proud, for a small club, they are over represented at State level.

Many of the boys are in the Hunter Sports Academy training squad and enjoyed having the opportunity to show off some of their skills against the best in the state.

Unfortunately the team lost both games; 3 nil and 4 to 1.

Cathy Churchill coordinator for the team told News Of The Area, “There was a great goal scored for the team by Carlin from a short corner.

“Beau was outstanding in defence, working tirelessly.

“Jordan MacDonnell fast and skilful as a striker, making strong inroads into defence every time he had the ball.

“James Rowland the Goalie was brilliant in goals, quick and light on his feet.

“All players were on the ball and played well today.

“The score didn’t indicate how close the games were,” she said.

While Ros Shirlock said, “The Hunter Representative Team, travelled to attend Hockey NSW State rep championships, they played well as a team.”

“The boys were wonderful representatives for the Hunter region.

“A big thank you to Cathryn Churchill for her coaching and the Manager Juliet O’Rourke.

“We’d also like to thank Hockey NSW for their support of the U18 Hunter Boys team,” She said.
