The new Nelson Bay Golf Club is completely purpose built and will stand out as a Premier Club on the Tomaree Peninsula. The grand main entrance includes a Porte Cochere, a covered canopy where patrons can alight under cover, protected from the weather. The Functions Area has huge windows with beautiful views of the Tomaree and Yacaaba headlands. The function area will have its own entry, bar and amenities as well as a landscaped courtyard, and an outdoor undercover area. Seating for more than 180 for a dinner function and 230 for a cocktail party, the area includes a dance floor and a stage. The Club will also house a sports lounge, an alfresco gaming area, a second gaming area, a bar area, a second lounge looking over the terrace and dining room as well as a kids indoor play area. The Blue Water Grill Restaurant will seat approximately 130 patrons. The lower level consists of a retail area, Pro Shop, cart storage, male and female showers and a first aid area. A huge commercial space of approximately 350 sqm is also available for lease through LJ Hooker Nelson Bay. “We will be getting more involved with conference events and the wedding market once the club is completed,” Sales and Marketing Manager Natalie Kelly told Bay News Of The Area. “A dedicated wedding ceremony site on the golf course will sit up high overlooking the entire course, incorporating champagne ceremonies with the Bridal Party being escorted around the Golf Course for wedding photos,” Ms Kelly said. Another focus of the new club is in the development of Kangaroo Tours and Golf Tours to international visitors as well as offering corporate ‘Stay & Play’ packages. “These packages will see us collaborating with local businesses including Moonshadow Cruises, Landmark, Mantra Aqua and Port Stephens 4WD Tours and will be a great way of everyone pooling their resources to attract visitors to our area,” General Manager Trevor Harrison said. Membership is available and an announcement of a car giveaway will take place at the opening of the new club. The website is currently under reconstruction and the Club’s temporary facilities are operating and include a bar, full gaming area and restaurant open for lunch daily and dinner Friday and Saturday nights.
