NELSON Bay Golf Club has embarked on a long-term project which will be more sustainable, saving labour, water and power, increasing irrigation efficiency and improving the landscape of the 27 hole golf course.

The club is investing $2.3million on a complete replacement of the irrigation system on the 27 hole courses which sits on 175 acres of land.

The investment in the system is expected to last around 30 years.

The course is not only a beautiful place to play golf but it provides a safe habitat for a range of local wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, native birds and the occasional goanna.

The scope of the replacement is staggering with 1,400 sprinkler heads, use of valve head sprinklers, 40km of irrigation pipe and a state of the art Rainbird Irrigation System.

The system has a life expectancy of over 30 years.

The in-depth planning process has meant there will be limited disruption through the project with 27 holes available to play each day.

Trevor Harrison, Club General Manager said, “This is the biggest Nelson Bay Golf Club project since our 2017 Clubhouse rebuild.

“After a detailed tender process we are looking forward to commencement and seeing the benefits this project will bring.”

With its 27 holes the course offers golfers great variety and a host of challenges.
