SEQUINS, tutus, and makeup: the essential trappings for Eisteddfods.

Nelson Bay Dance students have added wins at the Winter Eisteddfod to the year’s successes.

Competing at three Dance Eisteddfods so far this year, the girls and boys who train at Taylors Beach have added to their long list of awards with more success at each Eisteddfod.

At last weekend’s Winter Eisteddfod, wins for Robyn Yvette Dance Studio students included seven first, five second and four third place awards.

The places were in all genres of dance including classical ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, tap and musical theatre.

They have also won many awards at the Ritz and Glitz Eisteddfods in Newcastle and the Taree Eisteddfod held earlier this year.

The dancers excelled, taking out the trophy for highest point score for an open tap group at the Taree Eisteddfod which is one of the largest Eisteddfods held in NSW with over 2,000 competitors performing across three days in May.

Competing were dance schools from Port Macquarie, Central Coast, Newcastle and Sydney.

Lance Woods for Robyn Yvette Studio told the News Of The Area, “It is great to see dancers from the Nelson Bay area compete and win when competing against their peers from across the state.”

Another highlight for the dancers at the Winter Eisteddfod was when the studio was presented with the trophy for the Highest Point score for the second year in a row.

As always the dancers wore a range of brightly coloured sequin studded costumes and stage makeup to enhance the visual impact of their performances.

The dance students have just two more Eisteddfods to compete in during this term and then will be focusing on their up and coming ballet and tap exams.
