NELSON Bay Croquet Club – Thompson Trophy B Grade

The Thompson Trophy is the Club’s annual golf croquet singles competition which is played in three grades based on handicap.

The B Grade competition for handicaps 7 to 9 was played on Sunday 25 July 2021.

Despite cold and windy conditions, Club President David Wilson went through the day undefeated to take out the 2021 Thompson Trophy B Grade competition.

Eight members contested the B Grade competition: Barry Elliott, Liz Friend, Laurie Lawson, Allen Lees, Karen Lilly, Jim Timbs, Rae Uptin and David Wilson.

The players were seeded into two blocks of four giving a round-robin of three games, followed by semi-finals and a final.

In Block A, Barry Elliott and Liz Friend both won two games with Barry finishing top on hoop difference.

In Block B, David Wilson was top winning three games with the others all winning one game each, with Laurie Lawson finishing 2nd on hoop difference.

In the semi-finals. Laurie beat Barry 7-4 and David beat Liz 7-6 before David triumphed over Laurie 7-3 in the final.
