Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au Two of the founding members, Jennifer Watson and Morrie Carlton, attended the luncheon and assisted current President Bob Willet in cutting the cake. The Nambucca River Combined Probus Club was formed in June, 2005 after much hard work by the late Judi Wright, and was supported by the local Rotary Club. In September that same year the dream became a reality when the club was presented with its charter. Probus provides retirees with the opportunity to connect socially which is so important in today’s world. The emphasis is always on Friendship, Fellowship and Fun. Guest speakers are a highlight of each meeting, and cover a vast range of interests and subjects. “Topics are very diverse and most interesting, and social events are regularly held at least twice a month. “Our social calendar is quite varied,” said Helen Kirkpatrick, Nambucca River Combined Probus Club.
