THE ‘Kerry McCoy Cup’ was played on Saturday, won for the second time by life member Ian Vidler – well done Vids!

The week’s featured sponsor has been A Pizza This A Pizza That – with some additional rewards thrown in by proprietor Steve – discount vouchers on Saturday and a $250 voucher for anyone scoring a Hole in One on the 13th – the ‘Pizza Hole’ – thank you for your generosity Steve!

On Tuesday 21 September, the Medley Stableford was won by Geoff McCann (17) with 40 points from Garnet O’Brien (14) with 38 points on countback from Daryl Wall (13). Leslie Mohr had a good round of 37 points and the Ball Rundown went to 35 on countback.

NTP’s went to Graeme Bassam on 5, Bradley Dyet (Kempsey) on 7, Geoff Brooks got Subway’s voucher on 8, Chase Gardner (Bright GC) got the Pizza voucher on 13, Garnet O’Brien got Stu’s ball on 15 and Stuart Garvey on 18.

On Wednesday 22 September, the Ladies played a Stableford in 2 Divisions, with close scores requiring countbacks to decide the winners. Kerry Naylor (21) and Rhonda Rowe (25) both scored 39 points in Division 1 (scratch to 26), with Kerry winning on countback.

In Division 2 (27 to 45), Kay McGoldrick (27), Lillian Lukins (34) and Robyn Jones (29) all scored 40 points, Kay winning the 3 way countback.

Other good scores from Mary Bysouth, Lyn Grose and Faye Hopkins 39, and Judith Boyle 37.

The Ball Rundown went to 33 on countback.

There was a Medley Stableford on Thursday 23 September with a field of 96 players on course.

Division 1 (scratch to 15) was won by Paul Ryan (14) with 40 points from Rick Heywood (11) with 38 points.

In Division 2 (16 to 21), Joe Street (19) top scored for the day with 43 points to win from John Morgan (18) with 38 points.

Division 3 (22 to 45) was won by Roy Louis (28) with 42 points from Gary Rumble (24) with 40 points.

Other good scores from Pat Ellis, Peter Moxon & Stuart Garvey 38, Peter Delaney, Anthony Smith, Gary Thurlow and Kevin Anderson all with 37 points.

The Ball Rundown went to 35 on countback.

On Saturday 25 September we had a great field of 122 players in a Single Stableford for the Kerry McCoy Cup.

Kerry was a past President & Captain and dedicated member of our Club who passed away on 16 August 2020 and was awarded Life Membership for his service to the Club.

The Cup was first played for last year and the inaugural event was most fittingly won by another Life Member, Ian Vidler.

It was quite an amazing feat that this year’s winner was once again Ian Vidler with the best overall score of the day of 42 points.

Ian (14) was the winner of Division 1 (scratch to 16) and runner up was Rick Heywood (10) with 41 points.

In Division 2 (17 to 22), Rodney Robertson (17) had 41 points to win from Trevor Peter (17) with 40 points.

Division 3 (23 to 45) was a tightly contested affair with Mary Bysouth (39), Lyall Gregory (27) and Chris Tinson (25) all scoring 41 points, Mary winning the countback.

Other good scores from Paddy Byrne, Chris Brownlie, Colin Dunne, Allan O’Brien and Mark McLaren all with 40 points.

You needed 37 points on countback in the Ball Rundown.
