Gillespie and Baldwin announce $9.6-million Water Infrastructure package for Manning-Great Lakes

The Abbott-Truss Coalition Government has today announced infrastructure projects to be funded in Manning-Great Lakes area under the $1 billion National Stronger Regions Fund.

The Government will provide $212 million in funding to 51 priority infrastructure projects nationwide in Round One of the programme, including $9.6 million locally.

The Nabiac Inland Dune Aquifer Supply System will receive funding up to a maximum of 50 per cent of the total project cost under the Coalition Government’s National Stronger Regions Fund:

Federal Member for Lyne David Gillespie and Federal Member for Paterson Bob Baldwin said the project will complete the Nabiac Inland Dune Aquifer Supply System including upgrade of the Nabiac Water Treatment Plant, the Darawank Reservoir pump station and electrical and telecommunications services. This will link the components to the existing Manning District Water Supply Scheme.

The National Stronger Regions Fund will deliver $1 billion over five years to enhance economic growth and sustain regions into the future.

The Government has been exceptionally pleased with the amount of interest in the Fund, with 405 applications received in Round One, seeking funding of over $1.2 billion.

After a competitive merit-based selection process, Government funding has been approved for 51 local projects around the nation.

“We are committed to strengthening regions across Australia by investing in projects to build or upgrade vital infrastructure,” Dr Gillespie and Mr Baldwin said.

“The investments announced today focus on strengthening communities in Lyne and Paterson, by improving economic growth, boosting productivity and creating employment opportunities.”
