MyTime virtual platform supporting parents and carers online

MYTIME is a free group which supports parents or caregivers of children aged zero to eighteen with a disability or chronic medical condition.

For many years, the MyTime group has run in-person, but due to COVID-19, Playgroup NSW has decided to accommodate to the changing needs of society, and run a virtual version of the group, facilitated by Hunter Prelude.

“MyTime sessions are for parents, or caregivers of children with disabilities to take time for themselves- to get together with others to chat, to share their experiences with others who understand and ‘get it’, to share advice and to obtain information regarding their various needs,” said Michelle Campbell, Playgroup Facilitator of MyTime group.

The goal of the virtual platform of MyTime is to successfully and easily provide support to not only regional areas, but also rural communities that would not usually be able to attend a MyTime face-to-face group.

Run by Jessica Williams and Michelle Campbell, trained playgroup facilitators, the group meets on Zoom for the free sessions every Friday in the school term from 1:00-2:00pm.

During various sessions, Hunter Prelude will bring in guest speakers from different organisations to present information on services and support available.

Attendees do not have to commit to showing up every week, and can simply pop in when they feel like it, however registration is essential and more information can be obtained by emailing michelle.c@hunterprelude.org.au.
