The Stalls are booked, performers are ready, Marine Drive is looking fantastic with the recent upgrades by Great Lakes Council, and of course the Myall River Chamber of Commerce and Tourism team are confident that this year’s Myall River Festival on this Saturday will be another fantastic day of community involvement and will showcase our areas assets and key features to visitors.

Chamber President Mark McCormick said, “We encourage all residents to invite family and friends to visit and join us on

the reinvigorated Tea Gardens Waterfront for a celebration of this wonderful setting and community.”

In addition to a full day of on stage, on water and roving street activities a wide variety of market stalls, food vendors, amusements and community displays will commence trading at 10:00am.

With Christmas just around the corner, who wouldn’t want a chance to snap up $1000 by having some fun? As part of this years Myall River Festival, those still keen to enter the Water Top Obstacle Course Challenge and vie for the $1000 prize can lodge their interest by contacting one of the organizers to secure their entry spot for what will be a huge event.

This years Festival also coincides with Halloween, and the Chamber of Commerce extends an invitation to any local or visiting children to head down to the Tea Gardens Waterfront dressed in their Halloween outfits and join in the evening Lantern Parade.

The parade commences at 7:30pm and will be followed by a fantastic fireworks display over the river.

While the fireworks are always a hit with people of all ages, just a timely reminder to residents to ensure that their pets are adequately secured in anticipation of the Fireworks scheduled for approximately 8:15pm.

The Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest Preschool has a fantastic new fundraiser lined up for this year’s Myall River Festival.

The children are currently helping to decorate a giant koala sculpture with plastic bottle lids that they have collected as part of a project to learn about recycling.

Carey Mason designed the huge koala sculpture which will be easily recognisable at the Festival.

Judy Clarke Preschool Director told Myall coast News, “One of the learning outcomes in our Preschool Program is children are connected with and contribute to their world.”
“With the koala and lids project we are encouraging an awareness of the importance of caring for our local koala population and environment, recycling being an active part of this,” she said.

The Koala will be finished and on display at the Myall River Festival, where there will be a competition to guess the number of bottle tops covering it.

The closest three guesses on the day will win one of the quality prizes available.

Up for grabs is two nights accommodation in a new lakeside safari tent at Myall Shores Holiday Park valued at $280.00.

Also within the prize pool is a family pass for Taronga Western Plains Zoo valued at over $130.00.

Plus voucher for Lazy Paddles Kayak Hire for a family of four, valued at $90.00.

All proceeds raised will go towards the completion of the preschool building extension which will contain a much needed therapy room and disabled toilets.
