So why do some of us feel the need to foul the region with rubbish.
Recently a boot load of bottles and garbage was retrieved from the sand dunes of Yacaaba and disposed of by one concerned local who wants to remain nameless because she says she’s just one of many who do the same to keep our region rubbish free.
The remnants of a gazebo were also found in much the same area just a few weeks back.
When it comes to the environment the Myall River Action Group is planning another river cleanup in 2018 in the wake of their very successful efforts last year.
And the volunteers of the Boomerang Bags have another big year ahead.
“The year has started off with some very generous fabric donations,” Co-Ordinator Brooke Feltis said.
“You should see the shed!”
“We will be celebrating a few important milestones in 2018 including the phasing out of plastic bags in our major shopping centres in June/July and also the one year anniversary of Boomerang Bags in our community in April.”
The group has a number of sewing bees planned beginning on Saturday 10 February in the Dolphin Room of the Tea Gardens Hotel.
“This is a light an airy space that also has the added benefit of allowing us to purchase drinks, coffee, and morning tea,” Brooke said.
Pop these dates in your diary for future sewing bees, 3 March, 5 May and 2 June.
