Chris recently headed off on his own to compete in the NSW Masters Long Distance Championships at Knox Grammar in Sydney’s north.

Not only was he the only entrant from the Myall Club but he came home with a gold medal for the 15 hundred metre Freestyle.

“Being the champion that he is,” Valerie Mobbs said.

“Chris followed up with a Novocastrians meet on 18 November where he came away with another three gold and a silver medal.”

Chris is now ranked fifth nationally in 200 freestyle, fourth nationally in 400 freestyle and fourth nationally in 50m Backstroke in his age group of 75 to 79 years.

While Chris was competing in Sydney and Newcastle, three other swimmers from the Myall travelled up to Port Macquarie for their meet.

Chris Lock came away with two firsts and two second places in four events.

Sharon Taylor finished with a first, two seconds and a fourth place and Chris Mobbs placed third in both the events he entered.

Valerie Mobbs said, “At this meet there were 23 clubs represented, 111 swimmers entered and with just three swimmers Myall Masters still came in 10th place.”

“I think this is a credit to the dedication of our coaches and swimmers.”
