Myall Lakes MP Stephen Bromhead at Bulahdelah Bulahdelah, Wootton, Nerong by NOTA - May 26, 2015 Stephen Bromhead, Member for Myall Lakes, has embarked on his Electorate meeting dates for May 2015. His first stop was Bulahdelah. On 18 May at 9:00am, Mr Bromhead met with members of the Chamber of Commerce and local residents outside the Rural Transaction Centre (RTC). The main topic discussed was about the tourism industry and how to continue to support small businesses in Bulahdelah. Stephen Bromhead is aware that three years ago when he was visiting this electorate there seemed to be a doom and gloom sentiment because of the Bulahdelah Bypass that was going to be opened. Mr Bromhead was pleased to see that the sentiment has changed and that many small businesses, like the cafes in Stroud Street, are reporting of a high rate of tourist customers still occurring, especially over the Christmas and Easter holiday times. Mr Bromhead pointed out that Stroud Street has been upgraded, a public amenities block has been built and how picnic areas and parks have been improved by Council. The Chamber of Commerce spoke about the signage on the Pacific Highway and Bulahdelah Bypass that is needed to promote local events that occur annually in the town. Apparently there has been talk and work on this for the last 20 months. Stephen Bromhead stated that he was willing to work with the Roads & Maritime Service (RMS) to get the signage up as quickly as possible. Stephen also congratulated the Bulahdelah Lions Club on their idea and building of the Grey Nomads Park under the Bulahdelah Bridge. This free camping site incites many tourists to use services in town. Stephen Bromhead also wanted to reiterate that it was under his leadership that an extra paramedic is now employed at the Bulahdelah Ambulance Station, responding to the medical needs of Bulahdelah residents.
