THE Myall Coast Rugby Union side,  known locally as the Mudcrabs, dined out in style at the weekend as the club celebrated another end of season Presentation Night.

The Dolphin Room at the Tea Gardens Hotel was full to overflowing with Mudcrab team members, family and supporters.

This year the side made the semi-finals, a great achievement said coach, the inimitable Hugh (Flash) Gordon.

“‘We were the most disciplined side in the competition and played above our weight being smaller and younger.”

“Everyone will always get a game, that’s what being in a town football side means,” Flash said.

And it was a night to pay tribute to the dedicated supporters and committee members who worked tirelessly for the Mudcrabs throughout the season.

Accolades went to new President Heather Davy, Secretary Ann Scully, All-round organiser Geoff Scully and organising committee members Stephanie Rushby and Fiona Mobbs.

During the year the Mudcrabs also did their bit for charity raising $700 for “Beyond Blue.”

As for the players. James Bowden was named Best Back, James Farmer received the Coaches Award, Jackson Page Best Forward, Nathan Colver Most Valuable Player, Stephanie Rushby. Geoff Scully and Fiona Mobbs were awarded Club Persons of the Year and Ann Scully, the Pelican Award.

Coach “Flash” Gordon summed up the season when he said, “We played the game for the right reasons and we adopted the spirit of Rugby.”
