The Myall Coast Rotary Club hosted their inaugural “Pride of Workmanship Awards” last week at the Tea Gardens Country Club.

The event was attended by over 70 family, friends, employers and fellow employees of the recipients.

Recipients of this year’s Awards were: David Lewis from Tillermans Restaurant; Ian Dunlop of the HN/TG Surf Lifesaving Club; Ros Jones and Julie Hammond from the Holiday Coast Credit Union; Katie Ambrose from Tea Gardens Palm Lake Resort; Peter Economos of the Pindimar/Tea Gardens Rural Fire Brigade; Samantha Rowling from Tea Gardens Real Estate and Kath Henry from the Karuah Public School.

The “Pride of Workmanship” Award was launched as a Rotary project by the Rotary Club of Pennant Hills in June 1975.

The aim was to encourage a much-needed pride in personal performance in the workplace, and to help create a national attitude for the benefit of our country.

The programme has been adopted by over 600 Rotary Clubs in Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, Malaysia, Canada and the United States.

The Award is designed to acknowledge an employee, irrespective of age or vocation, who, in the eyes of his or her employer, displays outstanding qualities in terms of approach, attitude, dedication and commitment, to his or her job.

The Award is intended to cover all aspects of work performance and ethics, inclusive of quality and quantity of output, safety, initiative, sense of responsibility.

Ian Mackenzie-Smith of the Myall Coast Rotary Club said, “The Rotary Club would like to express their appreciation to the Business Community for embracing the Award Programme.”

“We would also like to extend our congratulations to the 2016 Recipients of the Award for the values they bring to their vocation that make them worthy participants,” he said.
